PTFE Gasket Materials
We offer multiple styles of PTFE sheet gasket materials. The difference is in the method of manufacture, the fillers used, and the brand. We do offer Gylon® from Garlock, but we prefer to offer another option. Durlon® and Sichem®.
Sichem / Durlon
PTFE Filled Sheets
Durlon® offers exceptional filled PTFE materials that seal better and longer than traditional PTFE. Sichem® does the same, but the difference between these two manufacturers lies in the method used to produce a quality, cold-flow-reducing sheet of PTFE-based material. Garlock popularized the HS10 method from Dupont when making their Gylon Gasket materials. Sichem® uses the same process. Durlon® on the other hand uses a proprietary skiving process. Both companies provide credible data to reflect their method is best. We feel they are both very good products that effectively reduce cold flow, which is the whole objective of this product line. Our customers have found both very effective, so we leave the choice to them. If a Gylon equal is desired, either material will do the job. Durlon® is made in North America, and Sichem® is a product of Italy.
Sichem® S11
Sichem® S11 is a premium re-structured PTFE gasket sheet with excellent physical properties made of 100% PTFE and silica fillers.
Sichem is produced by Planichem (formerly FMI).
Color: Sand
Equal to: Garlock Gylon 3500
FDA: Yes
Sichem® S50
Sichem S50 is a true re-structured PTFE gasket sheet made with Glass spheres for lower torque load requirements.
Sichem is produced by Planichem (formerly FMI).
Color: Blue
Equal to: Garlock Gylon 3504
FDA: Yes
Sichem® S33
Sichem® S33 is a true re-structured PTFE gasket sheet made from virgin PTFE and Barium Sulfate fillers, which limits both creep and cold flow in service and at temperature.
Sichem is produced by Planichem (formerly FMI).
Color: Off White
Equal to: Garlock Gylon 3510
FDA: Yes
HS10 Sichem® Sheets:
The HS10 biaxial process developed by Dupont and utilized by Garlock to make Gylon, greatly reduces cold flow by changing the way the sheets are manufactured. The HS10 process makes sheets, in a layering process (prior to curing) which orients the alternating layers in different directions. The result is the sheet has a near-uniform tensile strength. This process is more labor intensive and slower in production than regular PTFE sheets, but the uniform tensile strength reduces cold flow or creep relaxation.
Durlon 9000
Durlon® 9000 is a PTFE gasket sheet made with Glass spheres for lower torque load requirements.
Durlon® 9000N is a white version of the same sheet, for applications requiring a neutral color sheet.
Color: Blue
FDA: YES (both 9000 and 9000N)
Industries: Chemical Processing, Food & Beverage, General Industry, Heavy Industrial, Marine, Mining, OEM Services, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Rail-Tank Car, Refining, Water & Wastewater
Durlon® 9002
Durlon® 9002 PTFE gasket sheet made from virgin PTFE and Barium Sulfate fillers, which limits both creep and cold flow in service and at temperature.
Color: Off White
FDA: Yes
Industries: Chemical Processing, Food & Beverage, General Industry, Heavy Industrial, Mining, OEM Services, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Rail-Tank Car, Water & Wastewater
Durlon® 9400
Durlon® 9400 is made of pure PTFE resins combined with carbon fillers homogeneously dispersed throughout the compound. Durlon® 9400 does not exhibit the cold flow problems associated with virgin PTFE yet has excellent sealability, flexibility, non-sticking, and cutting characteristics. Durlon® 9400 also demonstrates good electrical conducting properties due to its carbon content.
Durlon® 9400 is a unique material and designed for use in piping and equipment in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and other general industrial applications where resistance to highly aggressive chemicals (including hydrofluoric acid) is required.

What is the difference between PTFE and Teflon™?
Teflon™ can only be sold by those companies granted a trademark license from Chemours. Chemours (formerly Dupont) discovered the compound in 1938. Today, there are multiple manufactures of PTFE. An incomplete list includes:
